Season 14

Penny collects her belongings, and Barry sends Sam on his way with a few punches. Sinbad seeks Jimmy's help to get Kenny out of the way, but gets drunk and locked in the club. Julia continues to teach Beth to dance, while David teaches Mike.

Jimmy asks Barry to help Sinbad with his problem. Emma is talked out of resigning. Audrey enlists David's help to fix her boiler, and threatens to tell Jean about their affair. Mike takes Beth to the Medicine Ball, but is interrupted before he can tell her how he feels.

When Audrey's boiler breaks down again, Jean invites her to stay at the bungalow with her and David. Sinbad discovers that Kenny has been badly beaten up. Mike's hopes are dashed.

Mo wants to find a man via video dating, but the hunk she selects turns out to be a work-mate of Eddie. Sarah annoys Rosie by going out drinking. When Barry doesn't feel well, Emma insists on nursing him. Mike confronts Beth about his feelings for her. DD is determined to find out what rights Mike has over Josh. Beth locks Sinbad and Mandy in the extension until they agree.

DD's persistence about Josh forces Mike to leave the house, and he bumps straight into Sarah, who is finding it hard to put up with Rosie. Audrey sneaks up on David while he is transmitting. Sinbad decorates the tree outside number 10, but is electrocuted after Cracker causes his extension lead to become wet.

The rift in the Dixon household becomes too much for DD to bear, and Ron finds her contemplating suicide at Tony's graveside. Beth finds out that Viv is bisexual. Rosie goes with Mo to the singles night - but who will be chatted up?

DD prepares to leave for Bolton, but isn't keen on Ron moving into the house with Bev and Josh. Beth invites Viv home, but conceals her presence when Mandy is on the phone and Eddie is at the door. Audrey walks in on David while he is in the bath.

Rosie's wedding ring turns up in Kevin's hoover bag. Bev is not sure that she can handle moving in with Ron. David gets Max to help with Audrey's boiler. Patricia and Emma have a few things to say at Barry's business meeting. Eddie is concerned about a mysterious puddle in his back garden.

Viv encourages Beth to move into student accomodation with her. David is relieved when Audrey goes home. Ron convinces Bev to move into the Close with him. Carl wonders who Sarah's mystery man is. Eddie examines the Jordaches' patio without permission.

David discovers that Jean has taken Audrey on as her assistant at the florists'. Bev moves in with Ron. Beth is horrified to find out that Eddie and Carl have started to lift the flagstones from the patio.

Bev shows off her new bed, and learns about additives from Patricia. Mo has a date with Kevin. Mandy and Sinbad, back from their holiday in Ireland, realise that they are going to have to move Trevor's body during the night. When Emma lets "inappropriate" guests into the restaurant, Max sacks her.

Rachel invites all the neighbours to a surprise birthday party for Sinbad, unaware that he is busy packing with Mandy and Beth to go on the run. Mike gets the job he applied for, so Mick agrees that Sarah can restart at the pizza parlour. Bev wants Ron to erect a small fence, but Max warns that they might need planning permission. Eddie discovers who Sarah is seeing.

Patricia thinks about sending Alice to nursery school, so Bev thinks about sending Josh. A suspicious Rachel escapes from the others and tries to telephone Lee. Meanwhile, Eddie and Jimmy make a gruesome discovery.......

The residents hold an extraordinary meeting, but as well as the main business, Max insists on bringing up Ron's fence, and David wants to talk about dog dirt. Mandy tries to convince Beth that she isn't really a lesbian. The discovery of Trevor means that Rachel has to be told the truth, and she flees.......

PC Coban tries to find out what is happening from his DI brother. Reporters offer Eddie money for the use of his bedroom. Bev's manure arrives, and it's left on Max's path. Rachel is caught trying to sneak onto a boat bound for home.

Rosie's reaction to Eddie's "betrayal" forces him to donate his fee to charity. Jimmy also hopes to cash in, when Cracker discovers a bone. Max donates bin-bags so that David can help Bev to remove her manure. Mandy tries to explain her actions to Rachel, as the Jordaches' escape through Ireland continues.

At Bev and Ron's house-warming, Carl discovers that Sarah is going out with Mike. Max is woken early by a cockerel crowing. Mo gets drunk, David ages 20 years, and time is running out for Sinbad and the Jordaches.

Ron finds his kitchen full of chickens. Max feels that Bev is invading the Farnhams' lives. Rosie refuses to be pleasant to Sarah while she is seeing Mike, but agrees to look after Rachel while the arrested fugitives each attempt to convince the police that they alone were responsible for killing Trevor.

Bev and Patricia take Josh and Alice to the nursery, but only one child is given a place. Max finds a chicken in his house, and threatends to get rid of them all. Sinbad cracks under pressure, and confesses that he wasn't the murderer. Emma still rejects Barry's advances. Rosie uses Rachel's presence as an excuse to ask Sarah to leave.

DI Coban takes Mandy and Beth to the rubbish dump, threatens to find the knife, and convinces them to tell the truth. Sinbad is released on bail, and moves into Barry's. Carl tells Sarah she is making a fool of herself with Mike.

Beth and Mandy appear in court, and are granted bail. Jacqui tells Mike there is no way he and Sarah are moving in with her and Katie. Bev discovers that some of her chickens are dead. Rosie tells Mo she has seen Kevin with a huge bouquet of flowers - but who are they for? Jimmy sells his life story to buy a present for Jackie.

Two more chickens die, and Bev and Ron believe Jimmy's dog is responsible. David catches her fouling the pavement, and insists that Jimmy cleans it up. The Jordaches are allowed to move back home, and Rosie orders Sarah out after hearing her interpretation of what she saw at the pub.

Ron's plans for a fried Kiev are thwarted by Katie. Mike looks for a new home for Sarah and Rebecca. David looks after Cracker while "Mr Big" helps the police with their enquiries. Beth confronts Rachel about the latest newspaper article, which is read and discussed by everyone on the Close.

Sinbad encourages Mandy and Beth to face the world, but Mandy is suspended from her work, and Beth is told to take a year out. David is selected to go on a neighbourhood watch conference, but Ron doesn't want to pay for it. A cookery demonstration for the over-55's doesn't go at all as planned.

The Jordaches receive poison-pen letters. Barry arranges another date with Emma, but is also thinking of investing in property in Florida....... When Ron gets flour in his face, he suggests that Beth doesn't come into his shop again, and Jacqui is also speaking out against her. After seeing Bev's new hi-fi, the Farnhams wonder whether they should upgrade theirs, or get a new widescreen television.

Ron and Mike have to babysit for Josh and Rebecca while Bev and Sarah are out. When Max and Patricia arrive with Barry and Emma for a do at the brewery, they are surprised to discover that the "Farnhams" are apparently there already.......

Patricia takes Alice to the nursery for the first time, and resolves to get Barry and Emma back together. Mike feels that he can't get away from Sarah. George tells Audrey he wants her back. Mandy is determined that Rachel should come home, but she locks herself in the bathroom.

At the races, Max finds the "members only" enclosure being invaded by everyone he hoped to avoid, but Patricia wins enough to pay for her new hi-fi. Barry's car then breaks down on the way home. George tries to sell time-share holidays in Kenya, but will anyone be tempted? The Jordaches are getting mysterious telephone calls.

Barry tries to make Max believe he slept with Emma, but she tells Patricia what really happened. Jean tries to reassure Mandy that she did the right thing. Eddie arranges a surprise 40th birthday party for Rosie, and Rachel sneaks out to have a drink. Battle lines are drawn at the Farnhams' with the arrival of a new hi-fi and a widescreen television. Mo finds out the truth about Kevin, and Mike tells Sarah it's all over between them.

Jacqui reluctantly agrees to let Beth stay with her and Katie. Max makes sure Ron knows about his new widescreen television. Eddie wants reassurance about the time-share, so George gives him a video to watch. But it turns out to be blank, and a chat with Max gives him further cause for concern. Garry gets a job at the leisure centre, but, like Carl, is still feeling rough.

Jacqui is uneasy about Beth staying, and wonders whether she fancies Katie. While Eddie and Rosie try to track down George, he is selling his war-zone time-share to Jimmy and Jackie. To get the better of Max, Ron splashes out on a surround-sound television and a satellite dish. Garry's first day at the leisure centre turns out to be his last.

Patricia has an interview which doesn't go well, because she denies having Alice. Thomas, left with Emma and Barry, becomes ill, and they call a doctor. Mick and Jacqui blame themselves for what happened to Garry. Eddie demands his money back from George and, when he hears about the location of the time-share, Jimmy realises he needs to pull out too.

Emma wonders where she stands with Barry. Jacqui wants Katie to have a word with Beth, but can she find the right moment? Carl is feeling better, but Thomas seems to be getting worse. Eddie and Jimmy insist on having their money back, and succeed just in time.......

On hearing that George has succumbed to terminal greed and that Jean has lost &pound

Max leaves for Florida. Mandy starts feeling like death warmed up, and Beth receives another mysterious note. Jean collapses, and while David consults a medical book, Mick is called to see a micro-biologist, who confirms that there appears to be a connection between the deaths.......

Written by Nick Saltrese `- Health inspectors close the pizza parlour. Although Carl seems to be over his illness, and Jean also begins to feels better, Thomas is not improving, and Audrey is taken to hospital. Bev wants Ron to move with her and Josh to Lyn's until the epidemic is over, and Barry does a disappearing act. Then there is another sudden collapse on the Close.......

Ron wants to open up for business as usual despite the quarantine, but there is no electricity. The residents are required to give urine samples for analysis - but not everyone is keen, and Jimmy takes drastic measures.

Ron plans to charge the residents inflated prices for provisions from the Moby, but Carl takes orders from the others and brings in all the food from outside the cordon. The test results are in - Jimmy has distemper, and Ron is pregnant. Emma throws a party to cheer everyone up, but most of the guests are too depressed. Jean refuses to go to hospital.

Max insists on being with Thomas, and no-one can stop him. Jimmy arranges for Carl to make a "delivery" for him. Rachel decides to leave school when she is 16. Bev is sure she is pregnant, while Mandy finds it difficult to tell Sinbad that she is. Jean looks unlikely to survive another night.

Mandy realises from the amount of post for Rachel that it's her 16th birthday. Ron reads a newspaper article linking the epidemic with his shop. Max finally hears from Barry. Patricia realises she is unprepared for her mother's death, and David feels that he must confess to his affair with Audrey before it is too late.......

Bev doesn't like the result from the pregnancy test Carl bought for her, so she asks him to get her a few more. Jimmy is surprised to discover Barry's plans from Max, and Emma realises she picked the wrong man. Sinbad asks Mandy to marry him, but David realises that things will never be the same again.

Patricia takes over the running of the florists'. Max discovers that Emma has resigned, and that Barry is one of the heroes of recent weeks, according to the press. There is another residents meeting, and Ron has an idea about how to establish who else is pregnant.

Eddie wants to tell Rosie that she is pregnant, until he discovers how she would feel about it. David's plans to move to Hove are thwarted, but Ron offers him a spare room. Lee gets a Mohican haircut, Patricia has some ideas, and Rachel has a belated 16th birthday party - but it all ends in tears.

Rachel agrees to stay at Jean's until she can find a flat. Bev is irritated that David has to stay at Casa Bevron because Patricia has confiscated his car keys. Eventually, Jean decides to grab the bull by the horns - or somewhere more painful.

Told of Rosie's pregnancy, Carl is amused and Lee is ashamed, while Eddie is concerned that she shouldn't take risks with her health. Ron and Bev have plans for the florists' - but so do Max and Patricia, who fabricate evidence that Barry has given them the go-ahead. Sinbad has a plan to encourage Rachel to come home.

It is the day of the funerals of Audrey and Garry, but David is more concerned about finding somewhere else to live. Ron is wondering what Patricia is going to sell in her new shop - but she is giving nothing away. Sinbad is busy decorating the Jordaches', but Mandy wonders if it is really worthwhile.

Eddie plans a rota for the housework so that Rosie can relax more, then finds out that she plans to carry on working. David tries to buy a "hip" poster for Rachel. The opening of the "Gift Box" goes well, although Ron isn't impressed, and Mandy has other things on her mind.

After a near-miss, Eddie decides to sell his motorbike. Carl opens one of Jimmy's packages and finds out that he has been delivering drugs. Ron encourages Bev to snoop around at the Farnhams' while she is cleaning - but they are already aware of the risk. Rachel refuses to see Mandy, but David agrees to try to talk her round.

David considers buying Eddie's motorbike. Jacqui starts up aerobics classes at La Luz, with Katie as instructor, and attracts a good response, but Jimmy is not amused. The Farnhams' new shop is attracting far fewer customers than it did initially.

Eddie regrets selling his motorbike, and David is scared of riding it. So Jean and Rosie ensure that the status quo is restored. Ron clears out his loft, and Jacqui is only too willing to take a few things off his hands. Rachel considers becoming a mechanic, and decides to go back to school. Beth refuses to accept the solicitor's advice.

Leo is still having difficulty coming to terms with Garry's death. David gives Jacqui and Katie a lift to the car boot sale, and finds himself doing more to help than he anticipated. Bev is suspicious of Jimmy's money-making activities, and Beth is concerned about what Rachel will say in court.

Jimmy has to explain away his stash of cash when Jackie finds it. David enlists support for a street party in celebration of V.E. Day, but not everybody is interested. Jacqui wants to ensure that Mike won't lie in court, but Beth won't let him do it anyway.

Mandy is sick of being talked about. David fails to convince Max to join the V.E. Day celebrations, but finds Jimmy is willing to help out. Ron sets out to prevent a car boot sale from being held on the parade, unaware that Jacqui is organising it.

It looks as if Rosie and Jackie are going to be joined by too many third "Andrews Sisters" for the V.E. Day celebration. Jacqui's car boot sale is a success. David rejects Carl's beer when he discovers it is German, but Jimmy is more than willing to drink it.

Mick helps Sinbad to choose an engagement ring for Mandy, but will she agree to marry him? Ron's offer to charge 1945 prices to customers producing their original ration books seriously backfires on him. David wonders whether he should tell Patricia the truth about her grandfather being a miner instead of a major - but a guest at the celebration has all the answers.

A visitor to the Crosbies' is warmly welcomed by Rachel, but given a much more cautious reception by Mandy, then is thrown out by Sinbad. After being seen running a car boot sale, Jacqui is sacked from her job at the leisure centre. Jimmy makes Sinbad an offer, but it may be his own interests that he is thinking about.

The identity of the hate-mail writer is revealed, and Beth seeks retribution. The trial begins, and Sinbad is shocked by the anount of media attention, while Ron and Bev are cautioned for taking photographs inside the court building.

The prosecution's case against Mandy and Beth is presented, with a doctor, a forensic scientist, the Cobans, Brenna and Rachel giving their evidence.

The case for Mandy and Beth's defence is presented, as Mandy takes the stand and Brenna, Rachel, David and Mick watch from the public gallery.

Sinbad and Beth give their evidence, as the Jordache trial continues. Meanwhile, Julia makes a nuisance of herself in the public gallery.

The prosecution, defence, and judge sum up the case of the Crown versus Jordache and Jordache. David comforts Mandy and Beth, but Rachel refuses even to see them.

Mandy writes a letter to Rachel to explain her actions, but Rachel has already decided where she wants to go to live. After their deliberations, the jury arrive at a verdict.

David calls a residents meeting to discuss the outcome of the Jordache trial, but not everyone can be persuaded to attend. Jacqui takes her driving test, leaving Katie to look after another car boot sale in her absence. Then the police arrive.......

Leo is brought home from school after being ridiculed by other pupils, but help may be at hand. Katie and Jacqui both try desperately to find out from Mike if his boss has plans to visit La Luz again - not that either of them fancy him, of course.......

Carl tries to encourage Max to adopt his system for improving profits. Katie tells Jacqui she has had a date with Shaun. Mandy is concerned about how Beth is coping, and Sinbad is worried about them both. Max questions Patricia's involvement with the Jordache campaign.

Max forces Carl to take action about the illegal beer. David tries to learn about information technology so that he can help Rachel to revise. Sinbad and Patricia are both concerned about the Crosbies' plans, and Rosie is one player short for her darts team.......but there is a willing substitute close at hand.

Carl's beer supplier informs him that, no matter what he says, deliveries ARE going to continue. Eddie and Rosie celebrate a birthday at Max's restaurant and at home. A poster in Mike's window annoys Ron. Jacqui is jealous of Katie. Jenny makes her intentions obvious.

Max is left holding the beer, and insists that Carl gets rid of it. Jean visits Mandy and Beth, but who will become the most upset? Mick is receiving silent phonecalls, while Rosie is match-making.

Patricia and Jean seek support for their candlelit vigil, but Ron is only willing to sell them the candles. Max and Carl encounter unexpected problems in the form of Les when they try to return the beer. Jenny offers to give Leo extra tuition, and won't take no for an answer.

Mo gets caught in the middle of the Donnellys' revenge on Carl, and is locked in the cellar. Sinbad and Jean go fly-posting, and get a severe telling-off from the police. Katie realises that Jacqui is still keen on Shaun too.

Carl seeks Jimmy's advice on the Donnelly situation, and his solution is to introduce them to "Barry Grant"....... Jackie is keen to take part in a television debate about violence, although Patricia has other ideas. Mick is avoiding Jenny, but she is spreading news that they may soon be getting married.

The Donnellys take their revenge on "Barry". Patricia and Jean are due to speak out on "Loud And Clear", but there is still time for a last-minute substitution. As the programme is being shown on a satellite channel, interested parties need to appeal to either Bev or Rosie to be able to watch it.......

Despite Max's objections, Patricia refuses to give up her campaigning. Jimmy and Carl run into even more problems as they try to retrieve the stolen furniture and the dog-napped Cracker. Jenny enlists Rosie's help to prepare a celebration of her engagement to Mick, even though he has never had the slightest intention of proposing to her.

Eddie and Rosie anxiously await news of Carl, but someone else is keen to see him first. Rachel is annoyed that Brenna hasn't told her that Trevor's body will now be buried in Ireland. Mick discovers that Jenny is still spreading the word about their engagement.

Eddie advises Carl to start remembering why he was in Widnes. Rachel decides she can't go to her father's funeral. Mick wants the headmaster to move Leo to another class, but Jenny has other ideas. Jacqui discovers that Katie hasn't slept with Shaun, so why should he miss out?

Jacqui is determined to set up in business, while Mick realises that Jenny still means business, as flowers arrive for him. Rachel asks Jean and David some curious questions, while Sarah confronts Carl, and Jimmy wants Jackie to consider moving house.

Jackie suggests an all-night darts marathon. Jimmy tries to obtain photographs of Barry's lost furniture. Mick feels that he must shut up shop to keep Jenny away.

Patricia and Rosie prepare for the darts marathon, and Julia insists on getting involved. Eddie starts to decorate a bedroom for the new baby. David finds Rachel looking at some private letters, and Mick tells Jenny that he is involved with someone else - Sarah.

Jenny tells Rosie that Sarah has been seeing Mick. The darts marathon receives little newspaper coverage, but Jackie is working on other ideas. Rachel catches David looking at her letters. Shaun tells Jacqui that he might lend her money to start a business.

Mick's allegations amuse the police, and Rosie doesn't know what to believe. Carl is released from hospital, and David finds the latest campaign ideas bizarre. Shaun sleeps with Jacqui while Katie is away.

Mick finally finds someone who takes him seriously, and Sinbad suggests that he takes a short holiday. Shaun makes a quick getaway after his night with Jacqui, which may be a bad move. Rachel is distraught when she discovers she has left her bag on a bus, and David has to decide whether to look inside when it is returned to him.

Max tells Patricia he is feeling neglected, so she comes home. Julia, meanwhile, joins the protest. David thinks he should tell Sinbad about the letters. Jacqui thinks she has found a way of making Shaun keep his word about the loan.

Shaun discovers his tapes are missing. Carl is called to the police station. The protest gets out of hand when a busload of strangers arrives, and Sinbad discovers that Jenny has followed Mick and the kids to Southport.

Carl tries to discover why the fireman changed his story. Sinbad persuades Mick to continue the holiday, despite recent events. The demonstration forces the authorities to take action, just as Jean has convinced Rachel to go and visit Mandy on her birthday.

Shaun enlists MIke's help to retrieve his tapes. Jean and Jackie are concerned about Rosie's health. Jimmy finds out that Carl will not be charged, and won't give him his money back.

Eddie and Rosie are devastated to discover that the baby Rosie has been carrying has died. Sinbad must decide whether to go ahead with David's plan. A shock awaits Mick when he goes to Jenny's flat.

Eddie must tell Rosie what has happened to her, but how will she react? Sinbad visits Beth in York, but finds that Mandy is not available. Katie and Ron are disgusted when they find out what Jacqui has done. David and Jean fear that Rachel will destroy her letters once she knows they have read them.

Rosie can't forgive Eddie for the decision he made, and tells him to go. Jacqui pays Max a deposit for the hair salon before going on holiday - but will Katie still want to go with her? Jenny lures Mick to her flat again, and threatens to commit suicide by throwing herself down the stairs if he leaves.

Sinbad takes Rachel's letters to Alison, but she is not convinced that they will be sufficient on their own. Max entertains his Round Table friends with a barbecue, and Ron manages to barge in uninvited. Mo tries to convince Rosie to think again.

Carl needs to find a partner for a trip to Florida. Mick received a visit from the police, and worries that he may face charges over what happened to Jenny. Ron tries to address the age-gap with Bev by inviting Max and Patricia to tea.

David takes Sinbad to visit Mandy, but they have a few problems along the way. Mick wants to arrange counselling for Jenny. Bev refuses to go to the Legion with Ron, and Carl makes Eddie and Rosie an offer.

Ron's plans to have a party to prevent Bev from going out with Janice again backfire. Mandy and Beth go to London for their appeal hearing. Rosie comes home, and Max tries to back out of his promise.

There is a last-minute development on the morning of Mandy and Beth's appeal, with devastating consequences.

The appeal goes ahead, but Sinbad is not allowed into the courtroom. Rachel is cross-examined on the witness stand, and finally admits that Trevor raped her.

Eddie makes enquiries about adoption. Ron and Bev go to Josh's nursery school open day. Mandy anxiously awaits the result of her appeal. Carl finally gets someone to agree to go to Florida with him.

Rosie wants to go back to the hospital so that a few questions can be answered. Mandy vows to go on fighting. Jimmy wants to throw a party, but no-one seems interested. Ron and Max prepare for their bungee jump, but will they go through with it?

Sarah convinces Rosie and Eddie to join Carl, Lee and Rebecca with her on holiday. Ron arranges a photo-call with the Farnhams to hand over the sponsor money. Mandy receives news which may have serious implications.

Jimmy tries to convince Jackie that they are infested with rats. Ron has an unexpected visitor after his collapse. Mandy and Rachel say goodbye to Beth.

Sinbad tries to convince Mick that Jenny has him right where she wants him. Jacqui returns from holiday with an interesting souvenir. Jackie takes steps to dispose of the rat, and Bev finds intruders in Casa Bevron.

Brenna asks for forgiveness, but will she get it? Jenny wants more help from Mick. Polly disposes of another of Jimmy's rats. Mike loses &pound

Sinbad can't believe Jimmy's latest scheme for convincing Jackie to move to the Close. Ron encourages Bev to go out with Janice again. Sinbad tells Mandy how he feels, but she doesn't want to talk yet. Jacqui offers Katie a job. Brenna returns, and shows no signs of leaving.

Ron tries to go back to work, but Bev and Jackie have other ideas. Gemma asks Mick if Jenny is going to be their new mother. Brenna sets about giving Mandy a taste of her own poison.

Max is curious to discover work being done on Barry's house. Mandy finally gives Sinbad an answer. Janice nearly loses her underwear, and when Mick finds it, Ron tries to push them together. Jimmy makes Sinbad an offer for number 10, then finds that getting hold of his money may not be as easy as he thought.

Jimmy reveals that he has bought a house for Jackie. Max prepares for Alice's birthday party, but Dil brings some unwelcome news. Brenna asks to stay, Rachel's results arrive, and Janice wants to show her gratitude to Mick.

Jimmy offers Sinbad a second-hand wedding cake. Mandy's doubts about the wedding are revived by Patricia. Max invites Dil for dinner. Jenny overhears Mick telephoning Janice.

Jimmy is worried when Dil finds the money in the loft and plans to ask Barry about it. Jacqui and Peter's salon opens. Brenna convinces Mandy not to call a doctor. Julia gets a new job, and Sinbad chooses a best man.

Mick needs to get rid of Janice before Jenny comes back, but she has left something behind. Patricia is concerned that the bank will not extend more finance to Max. Ron tries to help Mandy grieve.

Hoping to encourage David and Jean to invest in the restaurant, Max and Patricia are surprised to discover the extent of their savings. Bev catches Jimmy trying to retrieve his money. Jenny has something to give Mick.

It is Sinbad and Mandy's wedding day, but not everyone is going to get to the registry office on time.

Mandy refuses to let Sinbad call the police about Brenna. Everybody wonders what has happened to Mick. Rosie receives a reply from the hospital, and they haven't even spelt her name right. Dil issues redundancy notices to the staff of "La Luz".

Mick does his best to remain calm, but the arrival of the police doesn't help him as much as he hoped. Max does not like his choice of potential investors in "Grants" - a cowboy or an Indian.

Carl notices that Jimmy's garden has suddenly gained several bushes, while Dil awakens to find Barry's is somewhat empty. Bev resigns from another job, to avoid being sacked for the third time in the same week. David wonders if he can help Max and Patricia.

Police reinforcements arrive, as the residents form their own theories about what is happpening in Mick's flat. Mike's videotape is impounded, Max feels resigned to defeat, and Peter invites Bev to a football match.

Patricia arrives with champagne to thank David and Jean, but Jean has to be told why. Rosie is disappointed when she discovers who bought the dirty magazine she has found. Mick and Jenny tell very different stories of recent events, and Ron tells Bev they are moving.

Janice plans to move in with Ron and Bev to be near Mick, but he finishes with her. Jackie advises Rosie to take legal action. Katie's efforts to help are not appreciated, and another of Jimmy's schemes backfires.

Eddie and Rosie visit a solicitor. Carl shows Sarah the new home he has rented for her, and Jimmy acquires a business from Dil. Bev and Janice plan a party, and Mick meets someone he believed to be dead.

A message from Jenny makes Mick concerned for Leo's safety. Ron tries to talk Bev out of going on holiday. The residents have their own theories about why Jimmy is installing a radio aerial on his roof. David and Jean have different ideas about travel and adventure for the over-60's.

Mick doesn't want help from anyone. Sarah and Rebecca move into number 5 with Carl. Bev and Janice invite Peter to join them on holiday, without telling Ron. Mike needs some last-minute practice for his driving test, and Rosie is not amused when she finds Eddie wearing her fancy underwear.

Mick continues to teach Leo and Gemma at home, and wonders who the mystery photographer is. David confronts Jimmy about his taxi business. Ron is caught out when he tries to make Bev feel guilty, and the lottery syndicate wins, but won't let the &pound

Mick lets Sarah reopen the pizza parlour, but won't come out of his flat. "Grants" is relaunched under the new ownership of the Farnhams, and Ron and David are baffled when a battered old caravan appears on the Parade.

Ron finds out from Julia that Peter is going to Majorca, and warns him to keep away from Bev. David enlists Dil's help to remove Jimmy's caravan. Eddie and Rosie discover the sleeping arrangements at number 5, and Mick goes to court to find out the result of the bail application.

Katie encourages Mick to go shopping. Patricia agrees to have supper with Susannah, but invites Dil as well. David wants to discuss lottery numbers with Rosie and Eddie, but they have other plans.

Susannah asks Max to help her to find a flat. Leo and Gemma are not enjoying their lessons. Ron and Rosie have different views on scratchcards. Mike is offered a job, but is reluctant to accept it.

David asks if Rachel can stay with Patricia while he and Jean are in Bath, but she is worried by Susannah's continued presence. Katie offers to teach Leo and Gemma algebra, but they have other plans. Eddie is still finding it hard to please Rosie, but Jimmy may be making progress with Jackie.

Ron decides to take Jimmy's caravan away to the wreckers' yard, unaware that it is currently being slept in. The Crosbies' holiday is livened up by some exciting news, but all may not be as it seems.......

Mandy and Sinbad return from their holiday

Leo and Gemma are not willing to forgive Mick easily. Rosie and Eddie's good news spreads around the Close, despite their attempts to keep it secret, and David and Jean learn that they don't appear to have as much to celebrate as they thought. Mandy urgently needs a lift to the hospital - but who can help out?

Katie considers giving up dancing, and Jacqui offers her a job. Jimmy needs a lift for himself and a bear. Sarah goes to play bingo with Rosie and Mo, and finds an intruder in her loft when she returns. Mandy and Sinbad celebrate the arrival of baby Ruth.

Carl is annoyed to discover that Jimmy has spoken to Sarah, but pleased that he has removed the money from the loft. Jean has a plan, but David has his doubts about it. Max and Patricia have different views about Susannah's job offer.

Mandy feels that she must go and visit a woman who has written to her. Rosie and Eddie plan a party, then find that nobody wants to come. Katie has an audition for a panto, and David considers taking legal action.

Carl asks Sarah to come to Dubai with him. Mandy receives a tempting job offer. As ill-feeling against Eddie and Rosie increases around the Close, David decides to "be economical with the truth". Susannah gives Max an ultimatum.

Sinbad is looking forward to family life, but Mandy wants to take on a job at a women's refuge. Rosie finally finds someone on the Close who is still willing to talk to her. Eddie can't believe Carl's decision, but will Susannah want to do the same thing?

Sinbad finds that Mandy has gone out with Mrs Shackleton and left Ruth with Jimmy. The Crosbies and the Bankses both want to resolve their differences, but who will surrender first? Katie has a date with one of the dancers she is working with, and warns Jacqui to keep off!

Peter tries to convince Bev to go out with him. Mike shows Rachel a video he has found. Patricia takes Alice for her tests, but where is Max? Jean is desperate to travel the world, but David just wants to redecorate the bungalow.

Mike takes another driving test, but will it be second time lucky? Sinbad returns home to find some unexpected visitors. Max tries to make amends for missing Alice's check-up, and to be careful of what Patricia sees on the fax machine.

Unable to trust herself, Bev hands in her notice at the salon. Sinbad forces Mandy to be honest about her feelings for the job. Jean plans a round-the-world holiday, with or without David. Eddie suggests that he and Max hold a joint fireworks party, but who has the biggest rocket?

Jean tries to clear out some old junk, while David and Patricia wonder why she is getting rid of so much of the family history. Jackie and Jimmy try to cheer Sinbad up, but only make things worse. Mike tries to find Rachel somewhere to live, and Eddie looks to Sarah for a shoulder to cry on.

Max has to apologise for missing another appointment.......or does he? Rachel decides to move in with Jacqui and Katie, but there are some other people who want to look around her new accomodation. Mike thanks Bev for looking after Ron, but she is arranging another liaison with Peter.......

Rachel leaves the Crosbies', albeit not empty-handed. Patricia tries to make her parents see sense regarding their holiday plans. Lindsey turns up at the Corkhills', and tells her parents that she has left her husband. Eddie follows Rosie, and confronts her about her gambling.

Ron is having twinges, but Mike agrees not to tell Bev. Jean prepares to leave, and is led to believe that no-one will be coming to bid her farewell - but.......

David is already missing Jean, and tries to fill the void in his life, but no-one seems interested. Peter has problems with his lodgings, but Julia has a solution. Rosie pops out for a cheesecake, but buys more scratchcards instead.

Ron discovers from Julia that Bev has been lying to him. Eddie confiscates Rosie's cash-card, but she convinces Mo to make a withdrawal from their joint account. Mike tries to reassure David, and Jenny's father speaks up in her defence.

David thinks he has found the perfect tenant.......then he discovers who her parents are. Mick considers packing up and moving away, and Sinbad attempts to dissuade him. Bev proposes to Ron, but he feels that he can't believe anything she says. Rosie manages to retrieve her cash-card from Mo, but someone else then catches her spending the money.

David's impeccable record of forty years' accident-free motoring comes to an end just minutes after he borrows Max's car. Mo reveals to Rosie that she knows exactly where the missing money is going. Ron's suspicions increase when Bev suggests that he amends his will to provide for her and Josh.

Max receives a fax from Barry instructing him to pick up a V.I.P. from the airport. Ron and Mike attempt to use some of the very latest technology to obtain proof of Bev's infidelity. Lindsey's estranged husband, Gary, is not made welcome when he turns up at the Corkhills'.

To Jimmy's surprise, Jackie insists that Gary joins Lindsey to celebrate their anniversary. Someone is unexpectedly made redundant, and isn't pleased. Mike takes his driving test, and Ron and Jacqui congratulate him on what he tells them is the result. Then Ron hears something that makes him fear for his life.

Patricia wants Max to get rid of their house-guest, especially when he puts up their shop rent. Mo decides to sell her car, and quickly finds a willing buyer. Ron's worst fears appear to be confirmed. Jacqui receives news which has devastating implications for Katie. Lee asks for money for Christmas presents, so Eddie.......finds him a job.

Max has a double-booking dilemma, Rosie and Mo fail to scratch their way out of their predicament, a poorly attended meeting results in the appointment of an unlikely new BRA chairman, and there is at least one death in the Dixon family.

David is horrified at the first actions of the new BRA chairman, Katie feels that her life is over, Max is embarrassed at the restaurant, Rosie gets a part-time job, and the residents of the Close are shocked to hear that Ron Dixon is dead.

Christian confronts Katie, wondering why she hasn't rung work. David advises Max to change his attitude or risk losing his family, and Jimmy trains his new employees - some of whom are more willing than others.

Patricia sees expansion possibilities in the untimely demise of her next-door neighbour. Rosie is still confident that she can replace the missing money, but Mo believes that she should talk to Eddie. Gary plans to turn his discovery to his advantage.

DD returns to the Close, and soon discovers that the newspaper coverage of Ron's death has not been totally accurate. Rosie appeals to Mo for help, but it may be too late. Patricia discovers that Max has poached her only member of staff.

When Mo refuses to give Rosie a loan, she steals food from the restaurant. Bev can't bear to let Ron go. Jimmy buys the whole family expensive Christmas gifts.

Max is having problems with stock control, and is prepared to sack the thief, even at Christmas. Jacqui is worried about Katie, and wants her to see a doctor. Peter is not prepared for the reception he gets at Casa Bevron, and there is a rude awakening for the Corkhill household.

Realising that Max is going to be spending most of the Christmas holiday at the restaurant, Patricia decides to move there to be with him. Eddie discovers at a very awkward moment that his credit limit has been exceeded. Katie collapses on the opening night of the pantomime, and the hanging of a door requires more attempts that Gary anticipates.

There is an unexpected winner of the "Best Decorated House" contest. Mo is suspicious of Rosie when she finds Max at the house, and jumps to the wrong conclusion. Some of the residents are amazed to discover what they are getting for Christmas.

It is a quiet Boxing Day on the Close, except that there are members of two different households who want all the Christmas presents to be sent back to where they came from.

Max has to cater for two parties of residents of the Close, but not everyone turns up on time. Bev and Lindsey both see potential stardom for their offspring. Jacqui receives a note from Shane.

Mike's advertisement attracts considerably more custom than he anticipated. Lindsey tries to find out why there is friction with the Dixon family. Max decides that it is time to take drastic action, and two people who have had near-death experiences try to rationalise what happened to them.
