Season 1

When Lyle and Erik Menendez become prime suspects in the murder of their parents Kitty and Jose, tenacious defense attorney Leslie Abramson to take an interest in their case.

Erik makes a shocking confession to his psychiatrist, Dr. Jerome Oziel, whose mistress, Judalon Smyth, gives the police a pivotal tip. Leslie makes a move to represent the Menendez brothers.

Leslie Abramson and Jill Lansing struggle to understand the brothers' motives, and the DA puts Judalon Smyth on the stand as the trial gets underway, sending the media into a frenzy.

After Erik and Lyle confess, Leslie and Jill seek hard evidence to support the brothers' claims of abuse at the hands of their parents; Leslie tries to get Dr. Oziel's tapes thrown out of court.

Judge Weisberg allows the trial to be broadcast on TV; Dr. Oziel's credibility is challenged when he takes the stand; Leslie struggles to make her defense of the Lyle and Erik understood, as she and her husband more forward with their adoption plans.

The brothers testify about their years of abuse; Judge Weisberg agrees to unseal the tape of Lyle and Erik's confession to Dr. Oziel; after closing arguments, the jury begins deliberation; Leslie and her husband welcome their adopted son.

As Lyle and Erik's juries struggle to reach unanimous verdicts, the possibility of mistrial has Leslie hopeful for a deal with the DA's office.

After the first trial results in a hung jury, Barry Levin joins the defense; Judge Weisberg cracks down during the Menendez brothers' second trial. Season finale.
