As Hattie plans to announce her mayoral campaign through a movie drive-in charity event, a series of fires breaks out in the town. McClintock enlists the help of the local police in investigating Maria and proving she was behind the killing of Mickey.

When Frank's body is taken to the mortuary for examination, the autopsy report reveals a shocking truth; searching for answers, Maria meets with the local mechanic Ricus but finds herself drawn into his support group.

As the investigation into Frank's death continues, Georgie and Maria share with each other their feelings about losing a spouse. Jessie uncovers incriminating evidence linked to the town fires, and Maria and Ricus are held up by armed robbers.

Now the interim editor of the Gazette, Jessie gets a threatening letter. She and Maria discover that Georgie has been receiving religious counseling, which provides a solid alibi for Mickey's murder.

Another respected town resident is found dead, and suspicion falls on Georgie, amid revelations about her husband’s double life. Pressure mounts on Maria, as the McClintocks plan to take her house.

As more evidence emerges of Jaco robbing various crime scenes, Regardt confronts and arrests his brother. A frustrated Maria faces severe repercussions after breaking into Marius Rabie's office.

On election day, Maria gets a letter containing a confession to the murders, prompting a town lockdown. Meanwhile, Jackie's life is threatened when an unexpected visitor arrives back in town.

After Leonard's death, Jackie, Marie, and Hattie get together for a celebratory dinner. But when an obscure piece of concrete evidence pops up, they realize the killer is still on the loose and must race against the clock to save another victim.
